In an attempt to solidify the sonic foundation of the new album, I went back to work some more on the rhythm section. This release is going to be a lot more dynamic than any other record I’ve done before, so I want to make sure the drums, bass, and background instruments are strong enough to support the melodies that will go over them.

I’m very happy with the song structures as well, they are quite unique and so far have stood up to months of listening without me getting sick of them yet (which is rare for my typical recording process). The moods are heavy, somber, fast, slow, and very atmospheric. Each one has it’s own vibe and personality, almost like a collection of short stories. It seems as though all the episodes of “Tales From the Darkside” I have been numbing my brain with over the past year have rubbed off on my song writing.

I’m still toying with some ideas for the next music video as well, but we’ll save that for a later post!
